Styling with Stephanie... Wear Now, Wear Later

Truth be told, I'm not the best at planning my outfits ahead of time. However, the store is stocked and by the time I have to go to that wedding in August, my wardrobe & the store will be switching over to fall. Here are some wonderful pieces, versatile enough to wear now & later, casual or dressy.

Easter Now, Grad Parties Later

Nothing says spring like a bright, colorful floral. This dress is comfortable & flirty; one of those dresses you can just throw on and go. For Easter Sunday, I'll wear this with ballet flats, dangly earrings and a crossbody bag. Thinking ahead, I would love to wear this out to a graduation party with metallic sandals (or flatforms like these) colorful earrings & a metallic clutch.

Work Outfit Now, Girls' Night Later

This black ruffle blouse is incredibly versatile. It would be perfect for work (jacket optional) with slim pants or a pencil skirt and pointy pumps. I love this basketweave bucket bag, although a structured tote would look fantastic, too. For a girls night at the new Bar Brigade or patio at W.A. Frost, slip on this fun printed Nicole Miller skirt, a bright crossbody or clutch, and wedges and you are ready for anything.

Jumpsuit Now, Jumpsuit Whenever

This Fifteen Twenty cotton jumpsuit just came in. I don't have specific plans for it, I'm only worried I'm going to wear it too often. My first thought is a pool party, second thought - a backyard BBQ, happy hour, taking the kids to tennis, going for an evening stroll... I could go on. For a more casual take, slip on flat sandals, carry a tote, & load on delicate jewelry. To take the look a step further, wear strappy heels, a metallic clutch, & chandelier earrings.

Wear to Dinner Now, Wear to a Wedding Later

Yes, of course, I saved the best for last. I just love this Nicole Miller dress. It makes me smile (and jump for joy). I would wear this with a scarf, sandals & a neutral clutch or crossbody out to dinner with my husband. For a summer wedding, I would wear some sparkly swarovski jewelry from Helen Wang, metallic strappy heels & snakeskin or metallic clutch. Side note, the liner of this dress can also be taken out to wear as a bathing suit coverup. ;)

Styling with Stephanie... Fall in Love with DVF

Three Ways to Wear Your Slip Dress

3 Ways to Wear a Slip Dress

We've been wearing this trend for the past couple seasons but it is still going strong. So many uses for this gorgeous silk print, bias cut DVF slip dress!

  1. 90s trend: I feel like I'm on an episode of Friends in this lookLayering a tight fitting Majestic turtleneck keeps arms covered but still shows off the detail of the dress & your figure. Top it off with long delicate necklaces & chunky heeled pumps or Mary Janes.
  2. Daytime look: Put a cozy, oversized sweater on top of the slip dress, ankle booties & dangly earrings.
  3. Evening look: Throw on a fur, sparkly earrings & embellished shoes or bag and you are le femme glam.

dvf wRap dress: the midi version

The DVF wrap dress: A classic with a twist. I put on this silk jersey midi dress & honestly - you don't have to do anything, it's so amazing. But to change up the classic, add jewel tone accessories. I love these silk tassel earrings from local designer Helen Wang. Add a big slouchy tote to carry all my essentials for the day in a rich wine color. I would wear a luscious velvet over the knee boot if I had them, but a suede pair will work just as well. The wool fedora just gives my outfit that oh-so 70's swagger.

Everyday Lace

I am absolutely obsessed with this outfit!! For a daytime lace look, pair a delicate lace top with dark skinnies or straight leg ankle pants. (I am wearing a dark grey Citizens.) Throw a thin wool jacket, bomber jacket, or grandpa cardi over to keep you cozy and warm. For an evening look: lose the jacket, grab a metallic or embellished clutch & a great pair of pointy-toe heels to complete the outfit.

What I'm Wearing... 7 Pieces, 7 Days

I am going to attempt the (almost) impossible. I am going to style 7 beautiful, versatile pieces from the store & take them from day-to-night all in one crazy week. I will use a typical week for me as an example of how to use a small investment of clothes to make a big impact.

Monday: Casual style, or as I like to call it "Momming"

Monday - I'm thankful I wore a scarf & cozy sweater because it's chilly this morning dropping off the kids at school. I rush to Target to beat the "Mom rush." By the time I walk out, it's warm enough to lose the sweater. Time to get some work done in my office. The lightweight cupro tank is essential after my hot yoga class. Time to head out the door to pick up the boys from school. Where does the time go?

Tuesday: Work Day!

Tuesday - I usually work in the store on Tuesdays. Thankfully, it's a relaxed dress code - we dress professional but true to our personal style. Citizens of Humanity Rockets are my favorite jean right now. The clean, skinny leg is great for booties, flats or my current obsession - a pointy heel. They are high rise which keeps my waistline in check so I can wear this cute lace crop top! The lace is sexy and feminine, but the Tart jacket gives my outfit a professional edge.

Wednesday: Board Meeting to Date with Hubby

Wednesday - After dropping the boys off at school & going to yoga, I get dressed for my board meeting. I don't have to wear a suit since their office is more casual, but I still want to look polished. My Rockets with a pair of black pointy pumps, striped drape blazer & a fun pop of goldenrod underneath take this outfit from day-to-night. I meet my husband for an early dinner at Joan's in the Park. My feet are killing me, but after taking off my blazer & having a glass of wine - I'm good to go wherever the night takes me (which is right to bed after the boys go down).

Thursday: Work Day & Girls Night

Thursday - Most people wouldn't dream of wearing this to work. If you're not in the fashion business, a solid scarf and a jacket over the tank would be perfect. When paired with a more structured jacket, the lace skirt mixes that feminine/masculine contrast perfectly. The chain strap bag, wood earrings & gold tassel necklace are spot on trend. My outfit is comfortable, cool & transitions right to drinks on WA Frost's patio with my girlfriends.

Friday - Work Day & Date Night

Friday - I love this 3 Dots cozy grandpa cardi. It works great to just throw on when running out the door, which is usually what I'm doing since I'm notorious for being late. I'm loving the pine color of this tank for fall. It's a soft neutral that works with just about any color. The Helen Wang necklace is a perfect match, too (notice the tassel?) Once I'm out on my date, the sweater will be perfect for getting cozy with my hubby in a quiet booth.

Saturday: Gala

Saturday - Obviously, I'm not wearing this outfit all day: grocery shopping, taking the boys to a birthday party, & then to the park. But 5 o'clock hits & it's time to get ready for tonight's gala. I love getting dressed up! A luxury for me is getting ready for a full hour, by myself with a glass of wine or a coffee (depending on how the day went). I'm all ready to slip on this delicate lace outfit from Nicole Miller. It's so elegant & sooo comfortable! I just add strappy silver chain heels, a jeweled clutch, & dangly sparkly earrings and we are out the door. Time to raise money for a good cause!

Sunday: Family Day

Sunday - Time to unwind from the busy week, recharge, & gear up for the next week ahead. We usually lounge around the house in the morning while Dad picks up the boys fresh donuts & my Starbucks. After our healthy breakfast, we spend time working on the house or the yard. By late afternoon we clean up and head over to my parents house for a nice family dinner. It is such a beautiful tradition, to just slow down & enjoy each other's company & great food.

Kylie Styles... Bridal Style

Wedding season has begun and as most brides know, there are more occasions to attend than we know what to do with, myself included. So naturally as a bride and as someone who works in fashion, I found myself looking at the racks around me wondering where to start. I swiftly reminded myself to take a step back and focus on the four major bridal events ahead of me, besides the big day itself.

Bridal Shower

Update feminine florals and classic pastels, with unique fabrics and cuts, like this mesh neoprene blush dress by Badgley Mischka or yellow and white jacquard floral dress by Shoshanna.

It's a celebration, so why not wear a fun outfit? Party the night away in cool prints or sparkly embellishments.  This white off the shoulder dress by Yoana Baraschi and this embroidered white shift dress by Shoshanna are fun, yet practical, and uniquely bridal. Pair with a sparkly bag or colorful heel to pump up the party-ready look.

Rehearsal Dinner

Ooze elegance at your rehearsal dinner or welcome party with a lace dress, or lace accents for a more understated look. This midi length dress by Yoana Baraschi is effortlessly beautiful and moves comfortably with your body while you greet all of your guests.

Day After Brunch

The day after your wedding definitely calls for something comfortable, try separates, like these Badgley Mischka (now on sale!) and Ecru outfits, which are a great spin on typical bridal wear.

All in all, dressing up for your events and wedding day should be fun and enjoyable, much like the events themselves. So breath, try to relax, and congrats!
